The Kitchen
+ creative coding
+ visual identity
From its start in 1971, The Kitchen served as an artist collective in New York. It has evolved with and for artists over the years into a gallery space centering emerging avant-garde artists in a collaborative environment.
Inspired by its mission to empower the audience in thinking about what it means the shape the future of art, the new identity system challenges the role of the viewer as an active participant in the creation of art through dynamic viewership. The motifs of framing and perspective are representative of the ambitions of The Kitchen.
The logoform reflects the organization’s outside the box programming, and offers a new perspective. Created with javascript for fully interactive abilities.
The posters represent the many different types of media types that The Kitchen represents through a consistent framing device.
